    Module4 Rules and suggestions Unit2 We must keep the camp clean.

      Good morning/afternoon, my dear judges. I’m No. 7. May I start now? Well, it is my great honor to talk about my teaching ideas. My presentation consists of the following aspects.

      Part 1 Analysis of teaching material.

      The topic is Module4 Unit2 We must keep the camp clean. It is from the reading part of Unit2, Module4 of FLTRP Junior English. It is mainly about rules and suggestions. After learning this lesson, students can know how to protect themselves and how to give others suggestions.

      By the analysis of the New Curriculum Standard in English, teaching material and students are in my class, I set the following teaching objectives.

      knowledge objectives:

      students can read and write the words and phrases: tent, stream. Sudden, gun, soft, wood, blood, still, fall asleep, look out of and so on

      Students can know how to give suggestions by using the sentences like: We should... You mustn’t...

      Ability objectives:

      Students can use the key words and phrases to make new sentences.

      Students can use different reading skills such as skimming, scanning to get information in the passage.

      Emotional objectives:

      Students can learn how to protect themselves when in danger.

      Students will be interested in learning English.

      By the analysis above, I set the following key points and difficult points:

      The key points and difficult points are to improve ss’ reading skills and lead them to acquire how to give suggestions.

      Part 2 Analysis of students.

      Students in grade 9 are interested in the topic about camping, meanwhile they are lack of some relevant words and their reading skills needs practicing. Thus the teacher should try to make the class with interests and provide them more chances to learn by themselves.

      Now, I would like to talk about my teaching methods and study methods. I will mainly use Task-based Teaching Method and Communicative Approach to arouse their motivation to learn by themselves, pair work and group work.

      Now, let’s come to the most important part-teaching procedures.

      Step 1 Lead-in.

      After greetings, they are asked to watch a video about”xiong da and xiong er”. Then I will ask them the following questions:

      Who are they?

      Do you like them or are you afraid of them?

      If you come across them when camping, what should you do?

      The purpose of doing this is to arouse students’ interest and make an easy and relaxing atmosphere to study.

      Step 2 Pre-reading

      I will show them a picture in exercise 1 in the text book, and discuss this picture to answer two questions:(1) What is the bear doing? (2) What do you think the people in the tent should do? By this, they can train their predicting ability.

      Step 3 While-reading

      Global reading

      First, students have to skim the passage to put the disorder sentences in order. And then they are required to scan the passage and answer the questions in exercise 2. Some advice may useful for students: just pay attention to the time clues to order the disorder sentences. Through this, students can get a general understanding of the passage, and their reading skills of skimming and scanning will be practiced as well.

      Detailed reading

      Students will be asked to read the passage carefully again to complete the table in exercise 3 and complete the passage with the words in the box in exercise 4. Some advice may useful for students: just pay attention to the time clues and the sentence structure “Should...or should not” to give advice. During this part, the new words and phrases will be taught naturally according to the context. What is more, I will ask ss to make sentences with the new words and sentence patterns to ensure they have acquired them. In these activities, students will comprehend the passage in detail and their reading ability of getting specific information will be improved.

      Step 4 Post-reading

      Students have to retell the passage according to this table on the blackboard. Then they will be divided into several groups to discuss “ What should you do if you see dangerous animals?” They have to write down the rules and suggestions by using the sentence structures in this lesson and then do a report.

      The purpose is to arouse their interest and involve the whole class. Also,their critical thinking and autonomous learning ability can be developed.

      Step 5 Summary and homework

      In the end, I will guide the students to conclude what we have learnt today, and I will invite some students to make a summary. If necessary, I will give them some complements. And tell them when in danger, we should keep calm and give solutions.

      For homework, students have to write a short passage about swimming. They have to write down the rules and suggestions to help each other to solve difficulties.

      Lastly, I would like to introduce my blackboard design to you. As you can see, it is very clear and logical. Students can master the main content of this passage and retell it easily in this class.
